The Price Scale is a feature that displays the price movement and variation of a given instrument, shown on the right side of the chart as a vertical ruler.
There are basically two types of price scales used for chart analysis: Arithmetic and Logarithmic.
The selected scale can influence the trader’s decision-making process, as it changes how certain market movements are displayed on the platform.
Arithmetic Scale
The Arithmetic Scale uses equal intervals between price levels based on fixed units, resulting in a linear price movement where price variation is displayed statically.
Logarithmic Scale
With the Logarithmic Scale, the distance between intervals is displayed as a percentage, based on how many cents the instrument is moving.
This scale is commonly used on stock charts, where each tick equals $0.01.
Using the Logarithmic Scale makes it easier to visualize price changes more clearly.
To change the scale type, right-click the Price Scale and go to Type:
Or access Chart Settings:
You can also access Chart Appearance under Settings.
Enable or disable the Logarithmic Scale option, then click Apply to All:
