Backtest allows users to view the performance report of their strategies programmed through the Strategy Editor using the NTSL (Nelogica Trading System Language) code.
In BlackArrow, the OHLC (Open, High, Low, Close) execution mode uses the open, high, low, and close prices of the candlesticks to simulate the strategy's trades over the analyzed period.
OHLC: Uses only the open, high, low, and close prices of each candlestick to perform calculations and simulate trade movement.
To backtest your strategy, go to the Strategies menu and select Backtest:
Once opened, select your desired strategy:

Execution Settings
Settings designed to enhance the backtesting experience and performance report analysis for your trades.
- Interval Analysis: Select the timeframe for analysis.
- Maximum Quantity: Enter the maximum exposure the strategy can reach in a trade.
- Slippage (Ticks): Set the number of slippage ticks to factor into order execution simulations during the backtest.
-
Execute at the Limits: Simulates the execution of orders placed at the candlestick boundaries, accounting for potential execution friction caused by liquidity or queue position in the Level 2 order book.
Position Opening Settings
- Trading Hours: Entry time window for trades on the sessions selected in the analysis period;
-
Opening Type: Select the position opening direction for the strategy (Long, Short, or Both);
Risk Settings
- Pause and Reset at*: Allows you to set a time, based on local time, to cancel active orders and close the position. Automation remains active but will not submit new orders.
- Daily Loss Limit: The strategy will be disabled upon reaching the max daily loss limit;
- Daily Gain Objective: The strategy will be disabled upon reaching the daily profit target;
-
Achieve Gain Goal: Select Pause or Pause and Reset when the profit target is hit.
*Note on Pause and Reset At: On non-time-based charts, such as Kagi and Renko, candlesticks form based on price movement rather than fixed time intervals. Therefore, the Pause and Reset setting can only close the position once a new candlestick forms after the scheduled time. If no new candlestick forms after that time, the position may remain open until the next candlestick forms, which could be on the following trading day.
